Build a finish palette around what stays
A coherent room begins with materials that relate to each other and suit the way the space is used.
Find the anchor
Start with the largest element that will remain: a floor, cabinetry, stone or a favorite piece of furniture. Choose a small family of colors and materials that work with it. This gives later choices a point of reference.
Bring the samples together
Compare physical samples beside the existing finishes in the room. Look at them in daylight and under the lights you normally use. A color that feels warm in a showroom can read differently beside your own floor.
Use texture with intention
A restrained palette does not need to feel flat. A woven fabric, a quiet stone pattern and a wood grain can add variation without filling the room with competing colors. Consider how adjacent surfaces meet as well as how each one looks.
Choose for daily use
Check the manufacturer’s care information and suitability for the intended location. Discuss cleaning, maintenance and replacement before ordering. Record the product, finish, size and any edge or transition details together.
